About This Project
The Krakow Fragments developed after a trip to Poland and Ukraine, where I visited the small towns where my grandparents were born. In Krakow I bought a few pieces of lace to bring home. The lace images were printed on fabric, then the image was mostly removed using a bleach discharge. The lace was sewn over that original image, and then much of it was ripped away, showing the ghost image of the original piece. This process mirrored the building and destroying and building and abandoning of buildings I saw during my travels.
