About This Project

The source material for these pieces were the drawings of sunspots made by Galileo in 1613. In creating the background fabric, I made a Van Dyke print, (a sunprint process) and then removed much of the print with a bleaching out process. The interior texture is made of French knots, and the orb shape is made of individual painted “petals” appliqued over the background.
